One spiking neuron.

Brains don't pass numbers around every millisecond. They send brief spikes, and only when something happens. Feed this neuron spikes and watch it charge up, leak away, and fire.

  1. 01Press A, S or D (or the Fire buttons) to send spikes. One is rarely enough.
  2. 02Fire quickly, before the charge leaks away, and the neuron crosses its threshold and spikes.
  3. 03Input C is inhibitory: it pulls the voltage down. Give the inputs a steady rate and listen.
Work done since you arrived Spiking (only on spikes): 0
Clocked (every input, every ms): 0

My MSc thesis used spiking networks inside a GAN to clear haze from underwater images on a tight energy budget. This toy shows why that saves energy: work only happens when a spike arrives.
